I love themeet140 because it is truly social, a real life Twitter. Attending one you realise it is way more weird to tweet someone you don’t meet, than to come along and meet in real life. I have had the pleasure to attend meets all over the UK and seen some awesome things. My greatest memories are a group of first timers appointing themselves the welcoming committee to welcome other first timers in Glasgow, the round of applause I got after arriving late to one in Aberdeen after a Twitter debate, and the familiar faces in London where it all started.
The format really is that there is no format. I find it joyously weird to be thanked for putting them on – if it was not for the wonderful folks who come I would just be in a pub on my own.
